All the time in the world?

I was riding/spinning on my spin bike this morning through beautiful Argentina and the virtual trainer, Nicole, started talking about a restaurant owner she met while touring the country. The restaurant owner invited Nicole and her team to his home since his restaurant wasn’t open that day. And he took her on a tour of the garden in his yard where he produces a majority of the ingredients used in the recipes utilized in the restaurant. The man and his wife only produce quality recipes from the ingredients they can produce within the “limitations”, Nicole’s word not mine, of their own land. With these forced constructs, this man can make the most craved creations in his area. It’s a choice that he and his wife made, to function only within their own boundaries.

I bring this up, because it’s easy to focus on the negatives of what we’re missing out on or where we can’t go right now. But finding beauty and positives in our own personal boundaries or limitations is completely possible. I’ve seen folks on my newsfeed online really diving into their passions right now, because frankly, we all have nothing but time. I’ve really gotten back into reading again during this time. The first move I make when I log off work from home, isn’t to go to the television and force myself to get through my recorded programs…it’s to pick up the latest book in the series I’m re-reading. It’s amazing to have this time to truly enjoy these little things. Because I’ve been paroozing people’s lives virtually for years, and our culture has been complaining about not having enough time to do all the things they love. Well…it’s an unfortunate circumstance that has thrust this time upon us…but we have it.

You miss going out and going to the bar or restaurants. Well we have the safest bar in the backyard and the best cook that knows exactly what you like. You want to go to the movies? Thankfully, the cinemas are offering new releases through streaming platforms for about the same price you’d pay going to the theater. You want to go on adventures? Well there are audio-books, state parks, and your own neighborhood that can build some of the most beautiful adventures for you. It’s coming off kind of preachy, but I know that there is value in this lesson that everyone has been handed. Enjoy what you have and who you’re sharing this time with. Because sadly, we’ve all learned that these moments and these people can be taken just as quickly.

A little bit about me... It took me a long time to figure out what made me happy and what ultimately made me into the best version of myself. And I want to share that with each of you. Whether it was finding my passion with fitness, or getting rid of toxic people or at least trying to, or even just taking little breaks in every day to make YOU a priority. That's my goal. Awareness. It doesn't mean that you're a selfish person because you make yourself the hero in your own life's story.
